Who we are
ARIYAH ELITE ("we", "us", "our") provides private hire vehicle bookings through our website and mobile apps. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. We use a third-party booking and dispatch software platform to run our business, and that platform acts as a data processor on our behalf under a data processing agreement — it does not use your information for its own purposes.
Information we collect
The information we collect depends on how you use our services.
Passenger app and website
- Your name, email address and phone number
- Your account password, stored in encrypted (hashed) form — we cannot read it
- Pickup and drop-off addresses and other journey details you provide when booking
- Your device location, if you choose to allow it, so we can set your pickup point and show nearby available cars
- Your booking and payment history
- Your flight number, if you provide one for an airport transfer
Driver app (used by our drivers)
- Identity and compliance documents, such as images of a driving licence, private hire licence and insurance certificate
- Vehicle details and photographs
- Precise location continuously while a shift is active, including when the app is in the background — location tracking stops as soon as the shift ends
- Job assignments, trip history and earnings records
Both apps and the website
- Device identifiers and push notification tokens, so we can send you booking and job updates
- Messages you send us through in-app support or chat
- Diagnostic and technical logs used to keep the service running reliably
Payments
Card payments are processed by Stripe, a regulated payment provider. Your card number and other full payment details are sent directly to Stripe and never reach our own servers. Where pre-authorisation is enabled, we place a hold on your card at the time of booking and take (capture) payment after your journey is complete, including any extra charges that were disclosed to you at booking or during the trip, such as waiting-time charges.
How we use your information, and our legal basis
We use your information to take and fulfil bookings, dispatch drivers, process payments, provide customer support, and keep our service secure — this is necessary to perform our contract with you. We use certain information, such as diagnostic logs and aggregated booking data, for our legitimate interests in running and improving the service, in a way that does not override your own rights. We only use your device location or send you push notifications with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in your device or app settings. We also process information where required to meet a legal obligation, for example keeping financial records.
Who we share your information with
- Stripe, to process payments
- Google, for mapping (Google Maps) and push notifications (Firebase)
- Flight-status data providers, to track flights linked to airport pickups
- SMS and email providers, to send you booking confirmations and updates
- Our booking and dispatch software platform provider, acting as our data processor
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
How long we keep your information
We keep booking and financial records for as long as required by law, including for tax purposes. Location data, such as driver GPS pings recorded during a shift, is kept only for as long as it is operationally needed and is not retained indefinitely.
Security
We use technical and organisational measures, including encryption and access controls, to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss or misuse.
International transfers
Some of the providers listed above may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where that happens, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the UK's International Data Transfer Addendum or equivalent standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to certain processing, and to receive your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the contact details on our website. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Deleting your account
You can request deletion of your account and personal information at any time, either from within the app or by contacting us using the details on our website. We will action your request within 30 days, except where we are required to keep certain records, such as financial transactions, for longer periods by law.
Children
Our services are not directed at, and are not intended to be used by, children under the age of 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services or the law. We will post the updated version on this page.
